If only…

If only…
Shadows haunt me in the sunset
Of you walking down the leafy slope
Hair ruffled in the breeze
Words flowed easily
It didn’t have to be spring
For flowers to bloom
Amidst shades and bird chirrups
The moment arrived
Waited to hear the unsaid
I rephrased my thoughts
Which remained unsaid
The moment walked away
Promises weren’t exchanged
But understood
Or so I thought
I dumped the debris of my dreams
Into time’s trashbin
What do I do with the memories
That stalk me refusing to go away
